Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Brentford winger
Bryan Mbeumo, with the Cameroon international seen as a key part of
Rúben Amorim’s tactical rebuild at Old Trafford.
According to reports from
talkSPORT and The Independent, Mbeumo is among a shortlist of wide players being targeted by INEOS and Amorim as they look to add creativity, versatility, and pressing power to a squad that badly underperformed in 2024/25.
United are reportedly willing to meet Brentford’s £50 million valuation, with negotiations focused on structured payments to help comply with financial regulations.
Amorim is said to be personally driving the move, seeing Mbeumo as a system-fit for his high-tempo, wide-attacking 3-4-3.
“Bryan Mbeumo is exactly the kind of player Amorim likes — fast, intelligent, and relentless in the press,” said talkSPORT pundit Darren Ambrose. “He’s Premier League proven and entering his prime.”
The 25-year-old had a standout season, contributing 20 goals and 7 assists in all competitions despite Brentford’s mid-table finish.
Known for his two-footed ability, sharp movement, and direct style, Mbeumo could be deployed on either flank or even centrally — a key asset in a more flexible United front line.
His arrival would also likely signal the end for players like Antony and Jadon Sancho, both of whom are expected to be offloaded this summer. With Alejandro Garnacho also linked with an exit, United are clearly prioritising proven consistency over potential.
“He doesn’t have the hype of a £70m signing — but Mbeumo delivers every week,” said one recruitment insider. “That’s what United have been missing.”
United aren’t alone in the race — Newcastle and Aston Villa have also shown interest — but Mbeumo is believed to be open to the move, especially with the chance to play a starring role in a historic rebuild under Amorim.
If a deal is agreed in the coming days, he could become United’s second major summer signing, following the expected arrival of Wolves striker Matheus Cunha.
