Manchester United have reportedly made a £55 million offer for Bryan Mbeumo, as they accelerate their search for dynamic forward options ahead of a major summer rebuild under Rúben Amorim.
The Brentford attacker has quietly become one of the most consistent and productive wingers in the Premier League.
Despite missing parts of the season through injury, the 24-year-old has racked up 10 goals and 6 assists in 24 appearances, drawing the attention of several top clubs — with United now making the first concrete move.
According to Football365, Brentford are open to selling Mbeumo, especially with just two years remaining on his current deal. While they are reportedly holding out for a fee closer to £60 million, United’s initial offer of £55m has placed them in pole position.
“Manchester United have made a strong approach for Mbeumo — Amorim sees him as a perfect fit for his pressing system,” one source told Football365.
The Cameroonian international has emerged as a key target due to his versatility, work rate, and direct style — all attributes that align with Amorim’s preferred wide-forward profile.
Mbeumo is capable of playing as a right winger, left winger, or second striker, and has been particularly effective in Brentford’s counter-attacking system under Thomas Frank.
With Jadon Sancho and Antony both likely to be offloaded this summer, United are prioritising wide attackers who offer both end product and intensity — two things Mbeumo has delivered consistently.
Mbeumo has also been praised for his leadership and mentality, having stepped up during long stretches without Brentford’s usual talisman Ivan Toney.
Amorim is said to admire the player’s ability to carry attacking responsibility, something United’s current crop of wide players have struggled with this season.
While personal terms are not expected to be a major issue, United must be mindful of Financial Fair Play regulations, with several sales likely needed to free up spending room — including Marcus Rashford, Sancho, and Casemiro.
If successful, Mbeumo would become one of the headline additions of United’s summer transfer window, bringing Premier League-proven quality and tactical flexibility to a squad in need of both.
