With just days to go before the Europa League final in Bilbao, Manchester United are facing a nervy wait over several key players’ fitness.
Manager Rúben Amorim confirmed that while no fresh injuries have occurred, the status of multiple first-team stars remains uncertain ahead of the showdown with Tottenham Hotspur.

❓ Doubts and absentees

  • Matthijs de Ligt: The Dutch centre-back suffered a minor setback in the loss to Brentford earlier this month. Although he’s been undergoing daily rehab, Amorim has refused to guarantee his availability. He’s expected to undergo a late fitness test the day before the final, reported ManUtd.com.
  • Leny Yoro: The 19-year-old French defender is recovering from a foot injury sustained in training. His return was initially targeted for the final, but he has yet to rejoin full team sessions. Amorim labelled his involvement as “unlikely but not ruled out.”
  • Diogo Dalot: The Portuguese right-back missed the Chelsea match with calf tightness but returned to light training over the weekend. He is progressing well and is expected to be fit in time, barring any late reaction.
  • Joshua Zirkzee: The striker is definitely out with a hamstring tear sustained in April. He will miss the remainder of the season.
  • Lisandro Martínez: Ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.

✅ Cleared and Ready

  • Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Højlund, and Amad Diallo are all fully fit and training normally.
  • Harry Maguire, who had minor fitness concerns last month, is cleared to start and expected to captain the backline if de Ligt and Yoro are unavailable.

🧠 Amorim’s Take

“We’re monitoring the players closely. The final demands intensity — we’ll only use those who are 100%. But I trust the squad we have.”
With Champions League qualification and European silverware on the line, United will be hoping for positive late fitness updates to ensure they have as close to a full-strength lineup as possible.
