Alejandro Garnacho's
Manchester United future is hanging by a thread, as manager Rúben Amorim reportedly told the winger he is free to leave this summer.
The 20-year-old, once viewed as a cornerstone of United's next generation, is now the subject of serious transfer interest from multiple European clubs.
Garnacho’s role has diminished notably in recent weeks. After being left out of the squad for United’s final Premier League game and given just 20 minutes in the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham, sources inside the club have told
ESPN that Amorim no longer sees him as untouchable.
“Garnacho needs to find a club that suits him,” Amorim reportedly said in a blunt internal meeting. “The door is open.”
The Argentine forward, who scored 9 goals and provided 6 assists this season, has drawn interest from AC Milan, Aston Villa, and Bayer Leverkusen — the latter now managed by Erik ten Hag, who brought Garnacho into the first team at Old Trafford.
United are open to selling the winger for a fee in the region of £60–70 million, as Amorim and INEOS look to reshape the squad into a smaller, more cohesive unit.
Garnacho’s style and attitude, though admired by fans, reportedly don’t align with the new manager’s tactical and cultural vision.
“He’s incredibly talented, but he needs a coach who lets him off the leash,” said a source close to the player. “Right now, that isn’t Amorim.”
Despite the tension at club level, Garnacho remains in good standing internationally. He has been named in Argentina’s squad for Copa América 2025, and a strong performance could either rekindle his United career or cement his value on the transfer market.
As of now, Garnacho has not made any public statements. But with clubs circling and Amorim making his stance clear, his future may lie away from Manchester — unless both sides find common ground in the coming weeks.
