Erik ten Hag has hinted that he might step away from football after his rocky stint with Manchester United.
The former Ajax boss was appointed in 2022 to replace Ralf Rangnick. Although his tenure saw United win two domestic trophies - Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup a year later, their subpar performance in the Premier League resulted in Ten Hag’s dismissal in October.
Currently enjoying some time off the limelight, Ten Hag revealed in an interview with SEG Stories that the option of a career outside the football field is open to consideration.
"I don’t know how my career will develop, but I'm going to try my best provided something comes along that suits me," said Ten Hag. "There are so many other things I could do. Maybe in football, in a new position as a manager, that’s an option. And maybe something completely different."
Ten Hag has been collaborating with his brothers at their company and sees potential in this direction too. Their family business, a successfully run real estate company by their father, might be his next professional venture.
Meanwhile the situation at United has not improved since the departure of Ten Hag. Both Marcus Rashford and Antony have been loaned out, creating an acute need for attackers within the team.

Antony Thrives in Spain

Having moved to Real Betis, Antony has proven himself a formidable player. With three goals and two assists in just six appearances, he’s off to an explosive start in Spain.
This successful performance earned him three consecutive Player of the Match awards. His time at La Liga has not been without setbacks, though, after being sent off in stoppage time during a win against Getafe.

Rashford Makes His Mark at Aston Villa

Aston Villa has welcomed Marcus Rashford with open arms. Initially desiring a move to Barcelona, Rashford has made waves in the Premier League, delivering impressive performances and leading Aston Villa to a 2-1 win against Chelsea through his two assists. His stock has risen exponentially since leaving Manchester United.
Ruben Amorim, is left with limited options in the wake of these departures. His selection of first-team forwards includes Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, and Joshua Zirkzee.
However, after an unfortunate ankle ligament damage that ruled out Amad for the season, Amorim has called on young academy striker Chido Obi in recent matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.
