Manchester United have confirmed the release of ten
players as part of their summer squad overhaul, marking the end of an era for several experienced names and a significant reshaping of the club’s roster ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The club’s retained list, submitted to the Premier League, includes the departures of senior figures
Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans, and Victor Lindelof, all of whom leave
Old Trafford on free
transfers as their contracts expire.
Eriksen, who joined United from Brentford in 2022, made 108 appearances for the club and scored in his final outing—a penalty in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the last day of the season.
The Danish midfielder was a key part of Erik ten Hag’s side during his tenure, contributing to both FA Cup and League Cup successes.
Jonny Evans, an academy graduate who returned to the club in 2023 for a second spell, departs after making 241 appearances and winning multiple trophies, including three Premier League titles and the Champions League during his first stint.
Lindelof, signed in 2017, leaves after eight years and 284 appearances, having helped United to both FA Cup and League Cup victories.
Goalkeeper Tom Heaton is also included on the list of free transfers, though United have confirmed they are in ongoing discussions about a possible new contract to keep him as part of the squad next season.
The remaining players released are academy products: Hubert Graczyk, Jack Kingdon, Sam Murray, Tom Myles, James Nolan, and Tom Wooster, reported
ManUtd.com.United have stated they will support these young players in finding new clubs and will provide aftercare as they transition away from Old Trafford.
While the club parts ways with these ten players, United have retained the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Alejandro Garnacho—though several of these could be sold as manager Ruben Amorim continues to reshape the squad for the new campaign
