Gary Neville says that
Michael Carrick will be asking the question of "how he can get
Man Utd better" as he points to a key factor.
Carrick has had an excellent record so far at the helm at United with six wins and a draw but
Neville believes he now needs to take them on to the next level.
United had some stunning wins including against Manchester City and Arsenal but at the same time they could only just squeeze home in other games and drew away to West Ham.
Neville said: "He will be asking the question how do I get them better, how do I get them better against these types of awkward opponents who just sit back.
"They were amazing against Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham, you think those are amazing performances but a lot of it can be quite reactive.
"You can play on the counter attack with Mbeumo, Amad, Bruno, Cunha, Sesko. They are amazing on the counter, absolutely brilliant, how can we get to a point where we can dominant teams, sustain attacks in the final third, keep patience with speed and tempo.
"The best teams are able to be patient and look like they are playing quickly, shifting it quickly."
Neville pointed to the way that United are still struggling to break down more defensive opponents and asked how they can overcome that.
He continued: "How do United get to that, and it's obviously very early on
Michael Carrick's days but that is what he, Steve Holland will be thinking.
"They will be sat there looking at these four matches: Everton away, West Ham away, Fulham at home, Crystal Palace at home and be thinking they've just gone our way those games whether for a win or a draw, just flipped our way, but it wouldn't take much for them to flip the other way, so see the danger and think how can we get better.
"It is something that Ruben Amorim, Erick ten Hag, Jose Mourinho struggled with and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, where United won games quite well on the counter where they had little possession.
"But when they were dominant with 60% possession or teams shit off them - how do we get good at that again."
