Man Utd plan raid for World Cup star as cheaper option to £60m Hall

Manchester United are targeting Fulham defender Antonee Robinson if they fail to land top target Lewis Hall from Newcastle United.

The Reds have made strengthening the left-back position one of their priorities this summer, with Hall remaining the club's preferred option.

However, Newcastle are determined to keep hold of the England international despite United's willingness to test their resolve with a bid worth around £60 million.

His pace, stamina and attacking intent have made him one of Marco Silva's most important players, while his defensive reliability has seen him linked with several of England's biggest clubs over the past two years.

Unlike Hall, Robinson would arrive as a proven performer rather than a long-term project.

With more than 150 Premier League appearances under his belt, he has demonstrated his ability to cope with the physical demands of English football while regularly contributing assists from the left flank.

Despite Robinson's emergence, Hall is still understood to be United's first-choice target.

The 21-year-old fits the club's long-term recruitment strategy, offering youth, Premier League experience and significant room for further development. United have admired Hall for several months, but Newcastle's stance has made any deal difficult.

The Magpies have already lost several key figures this summer and are reluctant to sanction another high-profile departure, viewing Hall as an important part of their future plans.

The decision facing United is whether to continue pursuing Hall or switch their focus to a player capable of making an immediate impact.

Hall represents the long-term solution at just 21 years of age, while Robinson offers the experience and consistency of an established Premier League defender who could slot straight into Carrick's starting XI.
