Manchester United are weighing up a move for Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi, with the Italian international now firmly on the radar as the club targets energy, goals and tactical balance in midfield.
The 25-year-old is understood to be open to a Premier League switch after a season in which he found consistent minutes hard to come by at the San Siro, despite scoring vital goals in both Serie A and the Champions League.
United’s interest is part of a broader midfield reshuffle being driven by the club’s new INEOS-led football structure, with Frattesi viewed as a player who could complement the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro and
Mason Mount.
Known for his late runs into the box and aggressive pressing, Frattesi scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists in limited league starts last season.
He also made headlines in Europe with goals against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, underlining his ability to impact games at the highest level.
Inter are reportedly seeking a fee in the region of €45–50 million, though it remains to be seen whether they will sanction a sale this summer or wait until after the Club World Cup in December.
Newcastle and Spurs have also shown interest, but United’s need for midfield reinforcements could see them move quickly.
Frattesi, who is under contract until 2028, has previously been likened to Nicolò Barella for his vertical style and work rate. His fit at Old Trafford could offer Ruben Amorim the kind of box-to-box dynamism that has been missing, especially in games where United have struggled to assert midfield control.
While outgoings are expected to help balance the books, United’s recruitment team is already lining up targets—Frattesi now among the frontrunners. With the club eyeing a 2028 title push under “Project 150,” adding proven European pedigree like Frattesi could be a key piece of the puzzle.
