With just over a week left in the January transfer window, Manchester United are scrambling to finalize deals, but progress has been slow.
While academy talents Ethan Ennis, Joe Hugill, and Ethan Williams have secured loan moves, high-profile signings remain uncertain.
Marcus Rashford is set to stay at Old Trafford for now, and discussions for Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu have yet to result in an agreement.
Alejandro Garnacho is the talk of the town, with Chelsea and Liverpool sniffing around, but boss Ruben Amorim played it cool about any transfer buzz.
"I am focused on the games and he is here, he is here playing for Manchester United," he commented.
However, reports from the MEN suggest Amorim is frustrated with United's lack of activity in the market.
Sources claim the 39-year-old wasn’t fully aware of the club’s financial constraints when he took the job, though insiders insist he was briefed on the situation.
Amorim was reportedly informed that player sales would be necessary to fund January signings.
Despite this, United remain adamant they won’t sell players under pressure and are sticking to their strategy.
The Red Devils are in discussions over Dorgu but are also pursuing other targets.
Reports indicate United have approached Arsenal about 18-year-old defender Ayden Heaven, who made his senior debut earlier this season against Preston.
United are reportedly leading the race for Heaven’s signature and even hosted the youngster at a recent Europa League match where they triumphed over Rangers.
Eintracht Frankfurt are also monitoring Heaven, with the player attending one of their games earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are said to be offering Heaven a contract extension before his current deal expires this summer.
In terms of outgoings, winger Antony is completing his medical ahead of a move to Real Betis.
In a surprising development, United have also contacted Jorge Mendes, the agent of Joao Felix, to explore the possibility of signing the Portuguese forward.
Felix joined Chelsea on loan from Atletico Madrid last summer but has struggled to secure regular starts under manager Enzo Maresca.
According to Sportzine, United are keen to bring Felix to Old Trafford and believe the promise of more playing time could lure him away from Stamford Bridge.
While direct negotiations with Chelsea have not yet begun, Felix’s versatility across attacking positions could make him an ideal fit for Amorim’s system. Optimism is growing that a deal might be possible before the window closes.
