Marcus Rashford and
Ruben Amorim avoided each other when the striker came to train at Carrington this week.
Despite being one of five players granted extra time off to resolve their futures, Rashford opted to report back early, using the club’s medical and gym facilities to maintain his fitness.
But
Rashford arrived at Carrington at 4.47pm on Thursday - eight minutes after Amorim had departed.
Rashford arrived through the back gate entrance at Carrington, and Amorim used the front gate.
He was seen working on his strength and conditioning, pushing hard in solo sessions while his teammates began group pre-season drills under Amorim’s watch.
This separation was not just logistical but symbolic: Rashford, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, is no longer part of United’s core plans.
The club had announced last Friday that Rashford, along with Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia, would delay their returns until later in July to focus on transfer matters, with all five out of favour under the new manager.
Sources at United have indicated that Rashford and the others were given this extended leave to explore moves away, though some representatives contest that the players would have been willing to return to full training if asked.
Regardless, Rashford’s presence at Carrington was limited to individual work; he did not participate in any team activities and has not held talks with Amorim this week.
Adding to the sense of finality, Rashford’s iconic No. 10 shirt has now been handed to new signing Matheus Cunha, further underlining his peripheral status at Old Trafford.
Rashford is understood to be prioritising a move abroad this summer, with Barcelona showing strong interest after missing out on other targets.
United, meanwhile, are expected to seek a transfer fee of around £45 million, but as of yet, no formal offers have been received, reported the
Manchester Evening News. For now, Rashford’s solitary training at Carrington is a stark reflection of his uncertain future at United, as both player and club prepare for a likely parting of ways ahead of the new season
