Manchester United are set to make an improved third bid for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo as they race against a newly imposed transfer deadline set by manager Ruben Amorim.
United have already seen two offers—£55 million and then £62.5 million—rejected by Brentford, who are holding out for a package closer to £65 million and want a larger portion of the fee paid up front.
The urgency has grown after United missed their initial internal deadline to sign Mbeumo before the start of pre-season training, with Amorim now insisting the deal must be completed before the squad departs for their U.S. tour on July 22.
Brentford’s stance has been strengthened by recent Premier League transfer fees and their ability to extend Mbeumo’s contract by an additional year, reported The Mirror.
Despite the club’s firm position, Mbeumo has made it clear he wants to join United and has agreed personal terms in principle.
The player is reportedly frustrated by the ongoing delay and has told Brentford he will not sign a new contract, hoping to push through the move to Old Trafford.
United’s latest offer is expected to be closer to Brentford’s £65 million valuation and structured to satisfy the Bees’ demand for more money up front.
Amorim is determined to have Mbeumo in the squad before United’s three-game U.S. tour, which includes matches against West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton.
The club’s hierarchy is under pressure to finalize the transfer, as missing out could open the door for Tottenham or Newcastle to hijack the deal, though United remain confident of reaching an agreement.
Brentford director Phil Giles has reiterated that Mbeumo will only be sold if their terms are met, while United are optimistic that their next bid will finally unlock the transfer.
With both clubs eager for clarity before the new season, the next two weeks will be crucial in determining whether Mbeumo will join new signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon as part of Amorim’s ambitious rebuild at Manchester United.
