Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been told his time at the club is over after manager Ruben Amorim publicly questioned his professionalism.
The 27-year-old has not featured for United since December 12, and Amorim’s recent comments suggest the door may be closed on his return.
Speaking after Sunday’s match, Amorim stated he would rather include 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital in his squad than “a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day.”

Ferdinand: "No Way Back for Rashford"

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand, a six-time Premier League champion, believes Rashford's situation is irreparable.
“If I was the player the manager said that about, my heart, my pride, my ego—it’s embarrassment,” Ferdinand said on his Rio Presents YouTube channel. “For someone to question your application, to say you’re not giving 100% for the team, that you’re taking shortcuts—that’s a damning comment.
“There’s no way back for Marcus after that. If he does come back, it sets a precedent that others can slack off and still find a way into the team.”

Sutton: "Rashford Needs to Fix His Attitude"

Former Premier League winner Chris Sutton echoed similar sentiments, criticizing Rashford’s attitude and lack of application.
“He’s too big for his boots,” Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club. “What Amorim said is basic—he’s just asking for effort and commitment every day. Rashford is playing up, and that’s totally unacceptable.
“We all know Marcus Rashford was a wonderful player and probably still is. But for some reason, he’s not applying himself now. Amorim is well within his rights to call it out—this is likely his last resort.”

Amorim’s Stance

Amorim’s comments reflect his firm stance on discipline and effort within the squad. He has made it clear that players must meet his expectations to earn a place in the team, regardless of past performances or reputation.
For Rashford, the message is unambiguous: unless there’s a drastic change in attitude, his future at Old Trafford appears bleak.
