Marcus Rashford shared a five-word Instagram story shortly after being blasted by
Manchester United manager
Ruben Amorim.
The forward, who has not featured for United since December 12, was left out of the squad for Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Fulham.
After the match, Amorim stated he would prefer to place 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital on the bench rather than include a player who does not give their all in training.
“In training, in life, it’s every day, every detail,” Amorim explained. “If things don’t change, I will not change. I’d put Vital on the bench before a player who doesn’t give the maximum.”
Amorim’s comments marked his most direct criticism yet of Rashford, signaling a growing openness about his reasons for sidelining the 27-year-old.
Instead of escalating the tension, Rashford opted to respond with a positive message, writing on Instagram: “Congratulations on the win lads.”
United Grind Out Victory at Fulham
United managed just one shot on target at Craven Cottage, but Lisandro Martinez’s deflected strike in the 78th minute was enough to secure three points.
Despite four wins in their last five matches across all competitions, Amorim’s side has struggled to produce convincing performances, leaving fans closely monitoring the club’s January transfer activity.
Rashford’s Future Remains Uncertain
Rashford’s future at Old Trafford remains in doubt, with the club reportedly eager to offload him before the January transfer window closes. However, his options are limited as the deadline looms.
Talks with AC Milan fell through due to the Serie A side’s pursuit of Kyle Walker and regulations regarding non-EU players.
Borussia Dortmund had shown interest in a loan deal, but Rashford’s high wages have stalled negotiations, leaving the Bundesliga club unlikely to proceed.
While clubs in the Saudi Pro League are reportedly willing to pay handsomely for Rashford, the forward prefers to revive his career closer to home.
Barcelona remains a potential destination, with Rashford reportedly open to taking a pay cut to join the La Liga giants.
A Decade of Service
Rashford has been a mainstay at United since his debut a decade ago, scoring 138 goals in 426 appearances for his boyhood club.
However, with his role increasingly diminished under Amorim, the 27-year-old’s future at Old Trafford hangs in the balance as the January transfer window nears its conclusion.
