In a turnaround in fortunes former
Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been delivering stellar performances for West Ham this season.
Since leaving the
Red Devils, the 27-year-old has been flourishing in a wing-back role.
Wan-Bissaka's recent performance against Aston Villa was marked as 'outstanding'.
Having been deployed in a more advanced wing-back position, Wan-Bissaka delivered an all-action display on the right flank.
His dynamic actions were hailed on 'Match of the Day' by Gary Lineker and Micah Richards.
Raving about Wan-Bissaka's energy, work-rate, and delivery, Richards noted that his brilliant performance enabled the team to push up and perform better. "It was just brilliant to see," Richards stated.
Before his current success, Wan-Bissaka had a challenging journey at Manchester United, struggling to justify his hefty transfer fee.
Despite making 190 appearances, he failed to maintain a consistent streak of performances during his tenure. The final straw hit when he fell out of favor with Erik ten Hag and left the club after the 2023/24 season.
With United also moving towards a formation with wing-backs, they may regret letting Wan-Bissaka go.
Considering his current form at West Ham, his departure might have been premature. His continued success may be a costly reminder for the Red Devils of what could have been.
United appear to be closing in on signing Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu after tracking him closely but there are question marks over his price tag and whether he is worth the 40million euro valuation from the Italian club. At the same time he had a disappointing match at the weekend and was at fault for two goals as Lecce lost to Inter Milan.
