Marcus Rashford was reportedly informed by
Ruben Amorim that he would not play for Manchester United again as long as the Portuguese manager remained in charge.
The 27-year-old forward is now on the verge of completing a loan move to Aston Villa until the end of the season.
Villa boss Unai Emery personally called
Rashford to convince him to make the switch, as the England international had fallen out of favor under Amorim.
Rashford has not featured for United since December 12, after being dropped from the squad to face Manchester City, signaling his desire to leave Old Trafford.
In an interview with journalist Henry Winter, Rashford admitted he was "ready for a new challenge and the next steps", hinting at a departure from United.
Now, his wish is set to become reality, with Villa expected to finalize the deal in the coming days.
The forward is scheduled for a medical on Sunday before joining the West Midlands club on loan.
Permanent Exit on the Cards?
While Rashford’s move is initially a loan, Villa have the option to sign him permanently for £40 million in the summer. If the clause is activated, Rashford will be offered a three-and-a-half-year contract at Villa Park.
Even if Villa do not trigger the buy option, Rashford is not expected to return to United—unless Amorim is sacked before the end of the season.
TalkSPORT reports that Amorim has made it clear to Rashford that he has no future at the club under his leadership.
United Backing Amorim for the Long Term
Since replacing Erik ten Hag in November, Amorim has recorded eight wins and three draws in 18 matches, demonstrating his ability to stabilize the team.
The club hierarchy remains confident in his long-term project, further casting doubt over Rashford’s future at Old Trafford.
Dorgu & Heaven Join as United Strengthen the Squad
Meanwhile, United have confirmed their second signing under Amorim, securing Patrick Dorgu from Lecce in a £29.2 million deal.
The 20-year-old left wing-back signed a five-and-a-half-year contract and expressed his excitement about joining the club.
"I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself a Manchester United player; this is a very special day for my whole family," Dorgu said in his first club interview.
"I cannot wait to work with
Ruben Amorim; his vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting.
"There is a clear plan set out for my development, and I feel that Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfil my potential and complete my huge ambitions."
His arrival follows that of Ayden Heaven, an 18-year-old prospect from Arsenal, who joined on Friday. Heaven, who made one senior appearance for the Gunners, is expected to go straight into the first-team squad at United.
With Rashford set to depart and fresh talent arriving, Amorim continues to reshape the squad in his vision as United look to build towards a new era of success.
