Bayern Munich have confirmed that
Mathys Tel remains undecided about his future following
Manchester United’s latest bid to sign the winger before the January transfer window closes.
Earlier this week, Tottenham looked set to secure Tel’s signature after agreeing a €60 million (£50.2m) deal with Bayern on Thursday.
However, the 19-year-old rejected the move, despite Spurs chairman Daniel Levy traveling to Munich on Friday in a last-ditch effort to persuade him.
According to Sky Germany, United have since intensified their pursuit of Tel, proposing a loan deal as they seek a replacement for Marcus Rashford, who is on the verge of joining Aston Villa.
Meanwhile, Villa have also made an approach for the French winger, while Arsenal remain interested but have yet to follow up with a formal bid.
Tel, who has made just three starts this season, was omitted from Bayern’s squad for their 4-3 Bundesliga victory over Holstein Kiel on Saturday.
Speaking ahead of the match, Bayern’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, suggested that Tel could remain at the club until the end of the season.
“We are having a lot of discussions with him,” Freund told Sky Germany. “A lot has happened in the last few days—he’s only 19 years old.
“Yesterday, we decided together that his mind is overloaded, so it didn’t make sense for him to be in the squad today. But that doesn’t mean anything.
“It’s quite possible that he’ll still be a Bayern Munich player on Tuesday. He’s undecided and needs time to process everything that has happened.”
