Manchester United’s Manuel Ugarte and Lisandro Martinez clashed with Kai Havertz following his missed penalty in the dramatic FA Cup victory over Arsenal.
The Red Devils delivered a strong performance on Sunday, ultimately winning the third-round tie in a penalty shootout.
One of the match's pivotal moments came in the second half when United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir saved Martin Ødegaard’s penalty.
Arsenal’s captain had a prime chance to take the lead but was denied, sparking a heated exchange between United players and Havertz, who won the contentious penalty after a clash with Harry Maguire.

Ugarte and Martinez Take on Havertz

As soon as the penalty was missed, Ugarte and Martinez wasted no time confronting Havertz, adding to the tension on the pitch.
The German forward, who was central to the controversial penalty decision, became the focal point of United’s frustration.
Earlier, Ugarte had already confronted Havertz during a mass brawl between both sets of players as emotions boiled over.
Havertz’s tough afternoon continued into the shootout, where he missed a crucial penalty that ultimately helped United seal their victory.
He also squandered a golden opportunity to score from close range during open play, compounding Arsenal’s frustrations.

United’s Resilience Shines

The win came on the back of United’s impressive draw against Liverpool the previous week and marked a strong start to their FA Cup defense under manager Ruben Amorim.
Despite being reduced to 10 men following Diogo Dalot’s red card, United held firm and triumphed in the shootout.
Amorim highlighted the significance of Ødegaard’s missed penalty, crediting it as a turning point that fueled his team’s resolve:
"It was really important because it gave us more strength. With 10 players, it’s really hard to press a team like Arsenal. They were already controlling the ball for much of the game, so it was vital to win the game or at least draw at that point."

Looking Ahead

The victory at the Emirates puts Manchester United through to the fourth round of the FA Cup, keeping their hopes alive for back-to-back triumphs in the competition.
For Havertz and Arsenal, the result will be a bitter pill to swallow, with missed opportunities and fiery confrontations defining their afternoon.
