Manchester United are reportedly weighing a move for Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka, as the club explores alternative options to replace
André Onana this summer, according to
French media outlets.
The 24-year-old Polish international has emerged as a serious candidate after initial efforts to lure Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG stalled.
Despite Donnarumma being admired by
United, the Italian has publicly expressed a desire to remain in Paris, prompting the Red Devils to shift focus.
Bulka, who played under INEOS ownership at Nice, has enjoyed a breakout 2024/25 campaign, keeping 14 clean sheets in Ligue 1 and establishing himself as one of the league's most consistent performers.
His strong shot-stopping ability, aerial presence, and comfort in possession have caught the eye of United scouts.
“He’s mature beyond his years and commands his box with authority,” said a Ligue 1 journalist. “Bulka doesn’t just make saves — he inspires confidence."
With United set to offload either André Onana or Altay Bayındır, manager Rúben Amorim is keen on bringing in a more dependable presence in goal — one that aligns better with his tactical demands.
Bulka's current valuation is estimated at €25–30 million, making him a significantly cheaper and more realistic option than Donnarumma or Porto’s Diogo Costa. His profile also suits United’s desire to balance squad investment without triggering Financial Fair Play concerns.
Interestingly, INEOS’ ties to both United and Nice may also ease negotiations — though United will still need to formalise interest with an official bid.
“We want players who bring consistency and hunger,” Amorim said earlier this week. “There are no guaranteed roles, only performance.”
Bulka’s signing would represent a pragmatic and calculated move — not a headline-maker, but a solid step toward rebuilding confidence in the back line.
With Tom Heaton extending for another year to provide experience, Bulka could arrive as either a direct challenger to Onana or a long-term No. 1.
