Senne Lammens has been a major boost for
Manchester United in another difficult campaign and he tells what has "surprised" him most at the club.
The
23-year-old signed from Royal Antwerp on the final day of the summer transfer window and has made a strong impact since making his debut in October.
He did not start immediately which led some fans to wonder whether he was ready to face the challenge but since taking his place in the team he has looked solid.
And now talking about adapting to the team he says he has been surprised by the warm atmosphere in the dressing room - and is as would be expected, closest to the other keepers as well as the Dutch contingent as he himself hails from neighbour Belgium.
He explained: “I would say maybe Tom Heaton or the fourth goalkeeper Dermot Mee or also, like, the Dutch guys, because it’s easier with the language as well. But I think just in general that’s what surprised me the most.
"It’s just the togetherness of the group and of the dressing room. Everyone was really nice. So I don’t really want to say one or two guys. It’s in general with everybody, to be honest.”
Lammens provided further personal insight when he revealed he journals before and after matches. "I think it started when I started played at Antwerp two years ago," he said.
"I like to write things down before and after a game just to get my head into the right mindset. Sometimes if things don't go right, or you don't want it in your head, you just write it down to get it off your chest.
"I came up with it [journaling] a little bit myself, but also got it [the idea] from people talking about it as well, so I thought I would give it a try and it actually helped me a lot, so I still do it.
"Before a game, I write down a little bit about the opponent, about how they will play and put pressure on me. Also individual things, like key points I have to remember throughout the game."
Lammens continued: "Being a complete goalkeeper is something I take pride in. It's not just stop-stopping, it's coming out for crosses and helping the defence when the balls go behind them. My distribution as well, but what I'm most proud of is being able to play with my left foot and right.
"That makes it more difficult for the opponent to press me. Coming out for crosses is really difficult in the Premier League especially. I still like to do it a lot, but you need to protect yourself a little bit."
