Ruben Amorim got the response he was looking for from Chido Obi with a piece of quality as Manchester United U21s beat Borussia Dortmund.
Obi marked his return to the starting line-up with a neat assist, helping the U21s to a 2-0 victory over Dortmund.
The 17-year-old striker found Gabriele Biancheri for the opener inside seven minutes and he marked his assist by joining the goalscorer in a knee slide celebration.
It was the right response this time from Obi who published a photo of himself on Instagram which he then deleted after Amorim claimed he and Harry Amass were not doing so well.
Amorim took a dig at the two while giving his view that the Academy at United was not producing players ready for the first team.
And he followed that up in Friday's press conference by saying that there are certain young players who feel "entitled" rather than working their way into the team.
In the U21 game, the second goal for United came again from Biancheri after he was teed up by James Scanlon and he slotted low into the corner.
The deserved victory pushes United into the top-two qualifying spaces in the group in the Premier League International Cup.
While Biancheri got the goals, it was 18-year-old Tyler Fletcher who controlled the tempo from the centre of midfield.
Fletcher’s twin brother Jack and forward Shea Lacey were missing from the squad – a strong indication that they will join the depleted first-team for Sundays’ trip to Villa Park.
United’s goalkeeper Will Murdock, 18, also pulled off a string of crucial saves as Dortmund probed late in the game.
Dortmund missed two sitters in the final 10 minutes before another huge save from Murdock.
Meanwhile, Diego Leon, who signed for around £3m from Paraguay in the summer, is another player who stood out for his hard work and quality with expectation that he could get a call up into the first team sooner rather than later.
