Ruben Amorim has vowed to stick to his tactical philosophy at Manchester United even as reports suggest that some players have held discussions behind his back about making adjustments.
The Red Devils are enduring a dismal run of form, having lost six of their last ten Premier League matches, including five of their last six home games at Old Trafford.
Amid these struggles, some United stars have reportedly expressed concerns over the team’s approach, with a group of players discussing whether a tactical tweak would be beneficial.
Since arriving at Old Trafford, Amorim has persisted with a 3-4-3 system, the formation that brought him great success at Sporting Lisbon.
While there are no signs of a dressing-room revolt, the Portuguese coach’s unwavering commitment to his tactics could frustrate some within the squad.

Amorim: "There Is No Second Way"

Despite the club’s poor results, Amorim has made it clear that he will not alter his system. Speaking in December, he reinforced his belief in his tactical vision, insisting that the players must fully commit to his approach.
"As a coach, you have to choose one way or another—I choose 100 percent our way," Amorim stated.
"I choose to risk a bit. I believe so much in our way of playing, and they will believe too. There is no second way. We will adapt some players because we don’t have a different profile."

Gary Neville’s Warning: Amorim Risks Losing the Dressing Room

The latest concerns come just days after United legend Gary Neville warned Amorim about the dangers of sticking too rigidly to his system. Speaking on The Overlap, Neville suggested that continued losses could lead to players losing faith.
"They're obviously going to stick with Ruben Amorim, but the more you lose, the more difficult it is to convince the players of the idea," Neville said.
"You need the players to buy into it, but if they lose with it, and they keep getting criticised, the spotlight comes on them more, and the fans leave unhappy."
Neville stressed that Amorim must act soon, or risk damaging the start of next season:"You can't keep losing.
"It will depress the thoughts of the players to the point where they'll lose faith in the idea. It'll damage the start of next season. He has to do something."
However, Neville acknowledged that changing approach now could be difficult, as Amorim has remained firmly committed to his philosophy.
"He can't change his approach because he's died in a ditch on it. And rightly so. I think he's lost more games at Manchester United since he's come than he lost in the last 75 at Sporting."

Amorim’s Next Move

With United slipping down the table, pressure is mounting on Amorim to find solutions quickly. His stubborn faith in his system has been both a strength and a weakness, but with player concerns growing, the question remains: will he adapt, or will he stand his ground until results turn around?
