Man Utd plan raid on Bournemouth for £55m valued star defender

Manchester United are preparing a summer move for Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, as Ruben Amorim looks to bolster his defensive options.

The 19-year-old Spanish youth international has a £55 million release clause in his contract that will become active in July.

His outstanding performances for high-flying Bournemouth have caught the attention of United, but they face stiff competition from Real Madrid, top Premier League clubs, and Germany’s biggest sides.

United’s need for reinforcements at centre-back has only grown in recent months. Lisandro Martínez is sidelined until at least autumn due to a cruciate ligament injury, while Victor Lindelöf is out of contract at the end of the season.

Additionally, Paul Scholes has criticized Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro, questioning their quality in United’s defense.

With uncertainty surrounding key defenders, Huijsen has emerged as a serious target.

Bournemouth signed Huijsen from Juventus for just £12.6 million last summer, and the Dutch-born defender has made a swift impact in the Premier League.

He has played a key role in Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth side, which currently sits seventh in the table, chasing European qualification for the first time in the club’s history.

Huijsen has been instrumental in some of Bournemouth’s biggest results this season, including wins over Manchester City, Arsenal, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest, and Amorim’s United before Christmas.

Despite Huijsen’s importance to their squad, Bournemouth know it will be difficult to keep hold of him if a major offer arrives in the summer.

Born in Amsterdam, Huijsen moved to Spain at the age of five and later joined Juventus, where he made just one senior appearance before a loan spell at Roma.

After his permanent move to Bournemouth, he has now emerged as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young defenders.

With United, Real Madrid, and other top clubs circling, the race for Huijsen’s signature is set to intensify in the coming months.
