Joshua Zirkzee has endeared himself to some United fans after goading the home crowd after the derby win.
He sparked controversy after taunting Manchester City supporters following the dramatic 2-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium.
The Dutchman, who has been in impressive form for the Red Devils, played his part in the comeback win after coming off the bench.
But it was his post-match antics that have drawn criticism from City fans. The 22-year-old was seen taunting the home supporters, pumping his fists in celebration and provoking a furious reaction from the crowd.
Fans took to social media to react to the incident, with one person writing: "ZIRKZEE, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS."
Another commented: "This level of petty is what I love to see." While a third said: "Bringing back the proper way the game is played!"
United manager Ruben Amorim was delighted with his team's performance and praised Zirkzee for his impact on the game.
"Amad was outstanding," Amorim said. "Talk about a player trying to impress a new manager and showing he was right to select him. And what he's done now is he's said to the manager, 'you can't leave me out'."
The victory was a significant boost for United, who have struggled for consistency this season. The Red Devils are now looking to build on this momentum and climb the Premier League table.
Meanwhile, City are facing a crisis of confidence after a string of disappointing results. Pep Guardiola admitted that he is not good enough and needs to find a way to turn things around. 1
The United players left the stadium in high spirits, contrasting sharply with the dejection of their City counterparts.
The support of rapper Aitch, a staunch United supporter, added to the celebration in the mixed zone where players and journalists convene after the game.
United will now be looking to build on the win which will give them confidence after they suffered back-to-back defeats in the league going into the clash.
