Manchester United have taken a major step forward in their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo by submitting a new and improved bid that guarantees Brentford a higher up-front payment.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United’s latest proposal for the 25-year-old forward exceeds £60 million, with a significant portion of the fee offered as a guaranteed sum—making the deal more attractive to Brentford compared to previous offers.
This renewed push comes after United’s initial bid of £55 million (£45 million plus £10 million in add-ons) was turned down.
The club’s determination to secure Mbeumo is clear, with manager Ruben Amorim identifying the Brentford attacker as a key partner for new signing Matheus Cunha in the dual No. 10 roles behind the striker in his 3-4-2-1 system.
Despite strong interest from Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham—all of whom can offer Champions League football—Mbeumo has signaled his intention to join Manchester United.
The threat of a hijack by Tottenham, especially after former Brentford boss Thomas Frank took over at Spurs, was a concern, but Romano has reassured United fans that Mbeumo is prioritizing a move to Old Trafford and is not considering other clubs at this stage.
The new bid, submitted over the weekend but only coming to light on Monday night, is reportedly being measured against the £62.5 million United spent on Matheus Cunha.
Brentford are said to find the large guaranteed payment particularly tempting, and discussions are ongoing between the clubs1.
Personal terms between United and Mbeumo have already been verbally agreed, putting United in a strong position to finalize the transfer.
Mbeumo is coming off a career-best season, scoring 20 Premier League goals—trailing only Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland, and Alexander Isak in the scoring charts1.
With United willing to go as high as £63 million if necessary, and Mbeumo eager to make the move, the deal now appears to be edging closer to completion, marking a significant boost for United’s attacking options ahead of the new season
