Manchester United have reportedly opened discussions to sign Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo in what could be a major reinforcement to their underperforming forward line.
Following a dismal Premier League campaign in which goals have been hard to come by, manager Ruben Amorim is expected to lead a major attacking overhaul — and the 25-year-old Ghanaian winger has emerged as a serious target.
Semenyo has enjoyed an impressive season at Bournemouth, combining pace, strength, and a direct style of play that United have sorely lacked.
With 10 Premier League goals and four assists this season, his ability to create and finish chances has attracted top clubs. Bournemouth reportedly value Semenyo at around £70 million, knowing his stock is rising rapidly.
According to the Scottish Sun, initial contact has been made between United and the player’s representatives, though no formal bid has yet been submitted.
United’s interest is believed to be long-standing, with scouts monitoring his progress since his breakout performances at Bristol City.
Amorim views Semenyo as a player who can thrive in a flexible front three, offering both width and a goal threat from wide areas.
His physicality and pressing also align with the high-energy system United are trying to establish under the new manager.
That said, United’s ability to complete a deal may depend on offloading current forwards, with the futures of Antony, Sancho, and Rashford all uncertain.
Financial Fair Play considerations could also play a role, especially if Semenyo’s fee pushes past £60 million.
Bournemouth, for their part, are under no pressure to sell, with Semenyo tied to a long-term deal. But a major offer from a club like United could prove too tempting to resist.
If completed, Semenyo would become the first major attacking signing under Amorim — a clear statement of intent as United aim to return to the Premier League’s top six and reestablish themselves in Europe.
