Antony is set to travel to Spain later today to finalize his loan move to Real Betis, as Manchester United prepare for a flurry of activity before the January transfer window closes.
The 24-year-old Brazilian winger, who joined United for £86m including add-ons, has struggled to live up to his price tag and has been approved for a six-month loan deal.

Antony’s Loan Move Details

Real Betis and Manchester United have agreed to a deal that does not include an option or obligation to buy, ensuring Antony’s return to Old Trafford in June.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move earlier this week, stating: "Antony to Real Betis, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties with Man Utd too.
"Documents being checked; then time for travel and medical tests. United will let him leave on loan deal with no buy clause. He’ll be formally back to United in June."
While the deal was finalized days ago, Antony remained in Manchester and was even named on the bench for United’s Europa League match against Rangers on Thursday.

Delayed Departure and Replacement Plans

Reports from Diario de Sevilla have revealed the reason for the delay: Manchester United and manager Ruben Amorim were unwilling to finalize Antony’s departure until a suitable replacement was identified.
And Romano clarified on X: "Verbal agreement on loan remains done and not in danger, while United work on replacement."
Diario de Sevilla added: “This shortage of attackers is precisely why Amorim has delayed Antony’s departure.”
As of Friday afternoon, Antony received the green light to travel to Spain, with Romano reporting: "Here we go confirmed: Antony travels to Seville tonight in order to join Real Betis from Man Utd! Loan move until June with NO buy clause; salary shared.”

Patrick Dorgu Emerges as Replacement

Attention has turned to Danish left-back Patrick Dorgu, who currently plays for Lecce.
United are in advanced talks and have reportedly agreed on personal terms with the player.
Lecce are willing to sell for €40m, though United’s initial bid of €27m plus add-ons was rejected. Romano and journalist Matteo Moretto have confirmed that an improved bid exceeding €30m is imminent.
Dorgu, a left-footed wing-back, aligns with Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, which emphasizes width from full-backs rather than traditional wingers. His arrival would fill the gap left by Antony’s loan departure.

Other United Transfer Developments

  1. Ayden Heaven Pursuit: Manchester United are confident of securing Arsenal academy star Ayden Heaven, whose contract expires at the end of the season. Arsenal have offered the young centre-back a new deal, but United are optimistic about luring him to Old Trafford.
  2. Failed Transfer Hijack: Two separate sources have confirmed United made a late attempt to hijack a Premier League transfer on Thursday, though the deal was ultimately completed between the original clubs.
  3. Chelsea Eyeing Garnacho: Alejandro Garnacho is reportedly a target for Chelsea, who are accelerating their pursuit of the winger. Garnacho prefers staying in the Premier League over a potential move to Napoli.
As United gear up for the final days of the transfer window, all eyes are on whether they can secure Patrick Dorgu and fend off Chelsea’s interest in Garnacho.
