Manchester United have submitted a €70 million (£59 million) bid for Barcelona winger Raphinha, as the club begins an aggressive summer rebuild under manager
Rúben Amorim.
The Brazilian international, who has enjoyed a stunning 2024/25 season at the Camp Nou with 27 goals and 21 assists, is being eyed as a potential marquee signing to inject pace, creativity, and cutting edge into
United’s underperforming attack.
According to reports from multiple outlets including
BBC Sport, United’s offer is being seriously considered by Barcelona, who are facing ongoing financial pressures and may be forced to offload valuable assets to balance their books.
While Raphinha has become a fan favourite in Catalonia, the club’s need for liquidity could prompt a sale — especially at a premium price.
For United, Raphinha represents the kind of proven top-level talent they’ve lacked in wide areas.
With Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Facundo Pellistri all failing to cement their place in the team, Amorim has reportedly made it clear he wants a guaranteed starter on the flanks — someone capable of delivering goals and assists consistently in both domestic and European competition.
“Raphinha is exactly the type of player Amorim wants: aggressive, versatile, and with end product,” a source told TEAMtalk. “He can play wide or cut inside and will thrive in a pressing system.”
The 28-year-old previously impressed in the Premier League with Leeds United, which adds to his appeal.
His familiarity with English football and proven ability to perform in high-pressure environments could make him a seamless fit at Old Trafford.
Barcelona are said to be open to negotiation, though they may hold out for closer to €80 million, depending on interest from other clubs. Raphinha, for his part, is reportedly intrigued by the prospect of returning to the Premier League — particularly with a club undergoing a major transformation.
With United expected to fund new arrivals through high-profile departures, including potential sales of Sancho, Rashford, and Casemiro, Raphinha could become the flagship signing of a new era under Amorim.
