Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund is attracting interest from Inter Milan, as the Italian giants see him as having "massive potential".
According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are exploring the possibility of bringing the Danish striker back to Serie A just one year after his move from Atalanta.
Højlund, 22, scored 12 goals in all competitions during the 2024/25 campaign — flashes of promise, but far from the explosive impact United had hoped for following his £72 million transfer last summer.
With United enduring a chaotic season — finishing 15th in the league and falling short in the Europa League final — the club is now reshaping under new manager Rúben Amorim, and that includes reassessing their striker options.
“Højlund has massive potential, but this might not be the right environment for him,” said one Inter insider. “At Inter, he’d return to a league he knows, with a system better suited to his movement and physicality.”
United are currently closing a deal for Matheus Cunha, while also exploring interest in Aleksandar Mitrović and Viktor Gyökeres, raising questions about Højlund’s future role.
Amorim is believed to be prioritising multi-functional attackers who can press and play between the lines — areas Højlund is still developing.
Inter are reportedly considering an initial loan with an option to buy, though United’s preference would be a straight sale or a player-plus-cash deal if they’re to part ways this soon. No formal bid has been submitted yet, but the interest is real and growing.
“He’s still a top talent — and this could just be about timing and the right fit,” said former United forward Dimitar Berbatov. “Letting him go now might be risky.”
United must now weigh whether to double down on Højlund’s potential or cash in while interest remains strong — especially with financial flexibility needed for other targets.
