Senne Lammens is "living a dream" in the Manchester United goal where he has restored "calm" in defence, says Peter Schmeichel.
The Legendary United goalkeeper has heaped praise on the 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper who arrived at the club at a particularly difficult moment.
There was extreme pressure on him following his move from Brugge as fans questioned why the club had signed an inexperienced keeper when United needed somebody ready to command a leaking defence.
But Lammens has looked very composed and confident since taking his place in the first team and again was solid as he kept a clean sheet against Newcastle on Boxing Day.
"He's come in and there is calm in the back four, there's not this chaos where they don't want to pass the ball back. They trust him and he seems to be a very, very confident young man," said Schmeichel.
"Also one thing I like about him is that he is so quick about turning the game. When he gets the ball he is not afraid to kick the ball up the other end or throwing the ball out, starting a counter attack very quickly."
His strong start to life at Old Trafford has even led supporters to compare him to the legendary Dane.
And Schmeichel continued: "I don't think he has paid too much attention to the results of how the goals have been conceded, I think he is living a dream and every day he comes in and he wants to learn and he wants to improve and I think he has done really well."
There was plenty of work for Lammens and the United defence in the second half against Newcastle but they kept their shape and managed to hold on for a crucial win after Patrick Dorgu gave them the lead.
