Marcus Rashford remains available for selection at Manchester United and is keen to continue playing for the club, despite speculation about his future.
Sources have clarified that Rashford, who expressed his desire for a "new challenge" last month, has not ruled himself out of contention.
However, he was excluded from the squad for the ninth consecutive match in United's 3-1 home defeat to Brighton.
When asked about Rashford’s absence during a post-match press conference, United head coach Ruben Amorim remarked, "It's his choice."
Rashford has been participating in extra training sessions to maintain his fitness, yet his future at Old Trafford remains uncertain as the January transfer window approaches its February 3 deadline.
Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have reportedly held exploratory talks with his representatives.
While widely regarded as most effective on the left wing, Rashford is open to playing as a centre forward at a new club.
The 27-year-old, who earns £325,000 per week, is being considered for either a loan or permanent transfer by United.
A sale would be a significant financial gain under the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules, as Rashford is a product of the club’s academy.
Rashford’s recent absence has been notable, including the January 8 training session, where he was missing from the photos released by the club.
United have significantly reduced the volume of training content shared publicly in recent weeks.
Amorim dropped Rashford from the squad for the Manchester derby on December 15, which United won 2-1.
Since then, Rashford has only been named in the matchday squad once, as an unused substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on December 30.
Addressing Rashford’s situation, Amorim said, "Guys, like you said, it’s his choice. In the last games that we lost, Rashford was not here. So I don’t want to put this moment on Rashford.
Rashford is out of this moment because he’s not playing. No matter what, I’m not going to put in a player that I don’t believe is the best for the team."
Rashford has reportedly declined offers from three Saudi Pro League clubs and has no interest in a move to Turkey.
Borussia Dortmund has also been linked with the England international, leaving his next move uncertain as the transfer deadline looms.
