A host of former Manchester United players where at Boca Juniors’ dramatic 2-2 draw with Benfica in the Club World Cup, including Paul Pogba who made a surprise appearance at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
The French World Cup winner, currently a free agent after serving a doping ban, was spotted in the stands alongside fellow stars Leandro Paredes and Paulo Dybala.
After the match, Pogba was warmly welcomed into the Boca dressing room by club president and Argentine legend Juan Román Riquelme.
The two posed for photos, which quickly went viral, with Riquelme sharing the moment on his official Instagram and calling it a “meeting with two great players” — also referring to Ángel Di María, who scored for Boca and is another former United player.
Pogba also had a reunion with several of his old Manchester United teammates, now plying their trade at Boca Juniors. Marcos Rojo, Sergio Romero, Ander Herrera, and Edinson Cavani — all of whom wore the red shirt at Old Trafford — were on hand to greet Pogba.
The group shared laughs, hugs, and photos, reigniting memories of their time together in Manchester, reported TYC Sports.
Pogba’s visit comes amid plenty of question marks over his future and for United fans it poses the question of how many players have come and gone at Old Trafford in recent seasons and is the current squad any better?
For Pogba, it was a chance to catch up with familiar faces and enjoy the atmosphere of a big match, even as he considers his next club move.
Cavani in particular did well at United but was then given limited playing opportunities after the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo while Romero was also a decent understudy to David de Gea for several seasons and for many a lot more solid than the keepers at the club now.
