Gary Neville gives an insight into how Michael Carrick will be responding after massive wins over Manchester City and Arsenal.
Following the change of manager, the mood was low at Old Trafford and there was little expectancy ahead of the derby clash but the Manchester United players responded with a confidence boosting win.
And then they followed that up on Sunday by defeating league leaders Arsenal in their own stadium.
Bryan Mbeumo put them ahead after United had stood firm amid pressure from Arsenal and then in the second half Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha scored memorable goals in the 3-2 result.
"That's what you want a Man Utd team to do, to play with a level of thrill and risk," says Neville.
And on Carrick's personality he continued: "I've known him for a long time, he won't get too up and likewise if they had lost, he wouldn't have got too down, that is just the kind of character that he is.
"But he's definitely instilled a simplicity to it in the last two weeks, two games, that I like. It's my favourite system, a talented player playing off a striker, two wide players narrowing midfield, a back four that are really aggressive."
Neville says it is clear that the players have responded to the message they have been given from Carrick.
"It is a huge change, still not a point to get carried away, but a point to think Man Utd have an unbelievable opportunity from where they were two weeks ago before the Manchester City game when it was a real low point," sadi Neville.
"It is a remarkable turnaround and Michael Carrick deserves enormous credit so do the players, they have responded to whatever has been said to them and we don't know what has been said to them in the training ground.
"They are responding unlike before, why we can always speculate, Ruben Amorim could be watching thinking 'what the hell am I watching from these players' I'm sure he is bemused as we all are with the flip but the magic has returned."
