Bryan Mbeumo has told how it was his dream to sign for Manchester United and his first ever football shirt had Ronaldo's name on it.
In an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, the dynamic forward—who netted 20 goals in the Premier League the previous season—detailed the factors behind his high-profile switch.
For Mbeumo, United was always the aspiration. “My first football shirt was a Manchester United one, with Ronaldo’s name on the back,” he recalled.
“To actually sign for this club feels like a dream, but it’s a dream I’ve worked my whole career for.”
The French-born attacker cited the club’s global stature, legendary Old Trafford atmosphere, and passionate support as key reasons for choosing United over other elite suitors.
Above all, Mbeumo emphasized the importance of feeling wanted and having a clear path to success.
“The coaching staff, led by Ruben Amorim, made it clear how much they valued what I could bring to the team,” he said.
“Jason Wilcox, the technical director, was also very direct about their plans for me and for the club. That ambition and clarity really made a difference.”
Amorim’s reputation for developing players and his relentless winning mentality were decisive factors.
“He’s a coach who demands everything, every day, and that’s exactly what I want,” Mbeumo explained.
“I want to push myself to the limit and compete for the biggest trophies.” The striker also noted the importance of chemistry within the dressing room, praising both the squad’s talent and its welcoming culture.
The move to United, however, was not just emotional—it was strategic. Mbeumo spoke candidly about his desire to maintain momentum from a career-best campaign.
“I want to show I can perform at the very highest level consistently,” he said. “At United, every game is massive. That excites me.”
Finally, Mbeumo expressed gratitude to Brentford, his former club, and their supporters, reflecting on how his journey in English football prepared him for this step.
“I will always be grateful to Brentford, but now I’m ready to take on the challenge at Manchester United,” he said.
With his blend of pace, finishing, and tactical intelligence, Bryan Mbeumo arrives at Old Trafford determined to prove he belongs among the very best—in a club he has idolized since childhood, and in a league where every moment is scrutinized.
The stage is set for what promises to be one of the most intriguing stories of the 2025-26 season.
