Marcus Rashford, appears to be nearing a transfer to Barcelona, according to sources in Spain.
After not having played for the Red Devils since their win against Viktoria Plzen, Rashford has hinted at his readiness for a new challenge elsewhere.
Despite interest from numerous clubs, Barcelona seems the most likely destination for Rashford.
While his high wage requirements caused anxiety for potential suitors, reports indicate that the player is willing to accept a salary reduction for a loan move to Barcelona.
Incoming reports reveal that Rashford is 'closer to arriving in Spain' and that negotiations between Barcelona and Man Utd's board are ongoing, possibly leading to a €3m loan until June.
It's believed that this move depends on the Catalan club's ability to free up players before the end of the transfer window.
However, Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy suggests that Barcelona has not formally engaged United regarding the loan.
Reddy raises doubts over the feasibility of the deal, citing Barcelona's struggles with offloading players and Rashford's perceived issues with behavior and professionalism.
Barcelona's coach, Hansi Flick, appears comfortable with his current squad and hasn't been applying pressure for new signings.
The onus seems to fall on Rashford to change his habits and prove his worth, whether at Man Utd or a new club.
There is also talk that Rashford may reunite with Jose Mourinho in Turkey. Mourinho is currently managing Fenerbahce, and it is understood that his team is keenly watching the situation surrounding Rashford.
However, the deal isn't as simple as it seems. High demands from United for Rashford's transfer, coupled with his £350,000-per-week wage, are potential stumbling blocks for Mourinho’s team.
Despite these obstacles, Fenerbahce considers a late swoop for the forward. They're hopeful, given the fact that the Turkish transfer window closes a week later than the big leagues in Europe.
Mourinho is hopeful about bringing Rashford on board. The plan is to loan him until the end of the season with Manchester United bearing some of his salary. This, however, seems to be the last resort for Manchester United.
