Manchester United are keen to sign exciting Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman, according to reports in Italy.
Atalanta have risen to the top of the European game in recent seasons and it is partly down to the tricky skills of Lookman in attack.
The Red Devils have endured a tumultuous season so far, but under new manager Ruben Amorim, the club seems to be heading in the right direction.
While the Portuguese tactician has shown faith in the current squad, it's clear that reinforcements are needed to take the team to the next level.
Lookman, who has been in exceptional form for Atalanta, could be the perfect addition to United's squad.
The Nigerian international has proven himself to be a versatile attacker, capable of playing on either wing or as a central forward. His pace, skill, and eye for goal make him a dangerous player for any defense.
Atalanta are aware of Lookman's talent and his desire to play at a bigger level. The Italian side is prepared to negotiate a potential transfer next summer, but they will demand a significant fee for the 27-year-old.
According to a report from Sky Sports, United have made contact with the entourage of Atalanta forward Lookman, who could cost in the region of €50m (£41m).
It's understood that Liverpool and Chelsea have also initiated contact, while Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the forward.
United's interest in Lookman is a clear indication of their ambition to return to the top of English football.
With the club's financial muscle and the allure of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, United could be a tempting destination for Lookman.
If the deal goes through, Lookman could form a formidable attacking partnership with Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes. His ability to create chances and score goals would be a valuable asset to Amorim's side.
However, United will face competition from other top European clubs for Lookman's signature. The likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have also been linked with the Nigerian international.
As the transfer window approaches, it will be interesting to see whether United can secure the services of Lookman. If they can, it could be a game-changer for the club.
Meanwhile there are also reports that Alejandro Garnacho could be let go by United with Amorim not convinced by his contribution and it has put Atletico Madrid on high alert.
Although Garnacho plays for Argentina, he was born in Madrid and Atletico have long been tracking his progress.
