Alejandro Garnacho has won the 2024 FIFA Puskas Award for the best goal and was given a special message by Manchester United.
His spectacular bicycle kick against Everton which came early in the game at Goodison Park, has been recognized as the best goal scored anywhere in the world between August 2023 and August 2024.
Garnacho's goal was a moment of pure magic, showcasing his incredible skill and athleticism.
The award was presented by Alessandro Del Piero at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in Doha, Qatar.
Garnacho becomes the second Argentine to win the prestigious award, following in the footsteps of Erik Lamela in 2021 for his rabona that gave Tottenham the lead in the north London derby against Arsenal.
United have congratulated Garnacho on his achievement, highlighting the impact of his goal and the pride it brings to the club.
The club's official statement read: "Congratulations to Alejandro Garnacho, who is the winner of the FIFA Puskas Award for 2024. The Manchester United winger has been recognised for the stunning, acrobatic bicycle kick he netted at Everton in November 2023."
It added: "Well done to our No. 17, and thanks to all those who supported him. It's a goal that we'll cherish for years to come."
This award is a testament to Garnacho's immense talent and potential. At just 20 years old, he has already established himself as one of the most exciting young players in world football.
Voting for the 2024 Puskas Award was split between fans and a panel of FIFA legends, meaning Garnacho will have received approval from icons of the game.
He has followed in the footsteps of one of them, his idol Cristiano Ronaldo, to become just the second United player ever to be named the winner.
Ronaldo was the award's inaugural recipient back in 2009 for his thunderous long-range strike against FC Porto in the 2008/09 Champions League quarter-finals.
As United continue their journey under the guidance of manager Ruben Amorim, Garnacho's future at the club has come under scrutiny.
He was dropped from the United squad along with Marcus Rashford for the trip to the Etihad where the Reds came out on top against Manchester CIty.
And Atletico Madrid are known to be a club which is following his progress closely and could make a move for him if he becomes available.
Already, he has played 110 times for United scoring 23 goals and assisting 13 times. But he still has to prove himself with Amorim who is not happy with his general attitude.
