Manchester United fans got a glimpse of Ruben Amorim’s preparations as the Red Devils trained at Carrington ahead of their Europa League showdown with Real Sociedad.
With the Round of 16 first leg set for Thursday night, Amorim’s squad is gearing up for a crucial test in their quest for European glory—the club’s only remaining shot at silverware this season.
The session saw a mix of seasoned stars and exciting youngsters, with 24 players spotted in action. But the bad news was that Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte didn't train and are expected to miss the clash with Real.
Goalkeeping options included Andre Onana, Dermot Mee, Elyh Harrison, and Hubert Graczyk.
Defensively, Diogo Dalot, Ayden Heaven, Patrick Dorgu, Victor Lindelof, Harry Amass, Jaydan Kamason, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, and Noussair Mazraoui were all involved.
In midfield, the likes of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, and Toby Collyer trained alongside promising talents Jack Fletcher, James Scanlon, and Jayce Fitzgerald.
Up top, Rasmus Højlund, Chido Obi, Joshua Zirkzee, and Alejandro Garnacho rounded out the attacking contingent.
There was good news for fans as Toby Collyer returned from a minor muscle injury, boosting midfield options. However, concerns linger with Kobbie Mainoo absent from the session and Mason Mount continuing his individual recovery programme.
Young striker Chido Obi was also present, though he’s ineligible for the Europa League knockout stages after being left off the revised squad list, a decision that might frustrate some fans eager to see the teenager shine.
With Amorim’s side facing a Real Sociedad team hungry for a result, this training squad hints at the manager’s plans to balance youth and experience. United’s Europa League campaign has been a rollercoaster, but a strong showing on Thursday could reignite Old Trafford’s European dreams.
It is the last hope for the season following the elimination from the FA Cup last weekend at the hands of Fulham and they will need to play an awful lot better.
