Manchester United are still keeping a close eye on
Gianluigi Donnarumma’s situation at Paris Saint-Germain, with the French champions reportedly open to selling the Italian goalkeeper this summer for a reduced fee of around £34 million.
According to
The Sun and L’Equipe, PSG are open to a shake-up between the posts and would be willing to let Donnarumma go if they can secure a successor.
Donnarumma has made it clear he isn't looking for a change but United are hoping to entice him to Old Trafford. For
United they are evaluating the opportunity to land a top-tier shot-stopper at a cut-rate price — but they’re not alone.
Manchester City and Inter Milan are also believed to be monitoring the 25-year-old’s availability, adding a competitive edge to any potential negotiations.
Donnarumma, named Player of the Tournament at Euro 2020, has been a consistent presence at PSG but has faced growing criticism over distribution errors and lapses in big matches.
Despite this, he remains one of the most physically imposing and experienced keepers in Europe, with over 300 senior appearances and multiple titles to his name.
United’s current No. 1, André Onana, endured a turbulent debut campaign at Old Trafford, including high-profile mistakes in Europe and domestic competitions.
While manager Rúben Amorim has yet to publicly comment on the goalkeeper position, insiders suggest he wants a more composed and tactically adaptable figure in goal.
“We want players who match the system in both mentality and execution,” Amorim said recently. “No position is exempt from evaluation.”
Donnarumma is reportedly happy in Paris but hasn’t ruled out a move to the Premier League. He’s under contract until 2026, but the arrival of PSG prospect Arnau Tenas and the club’s interest in other keepers have raised speculation about his future.
Should United move forward, Donnarumma would likely become the club’s most high-profile goalkeeper since David De Gea — and a key part of a wider rebuild led by Amorim.
The decision now hinges on whether United believe Donnarumma is a necessary upgrade or an opportunistic luxury in a summer already crowded with top targets.
