Manchester United have received a much-needed boost ahead of their Europa League final showdown with Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday as no new injuries were reported following their 1-0 loss to Chelsea.
Speaking after the match, manager Rúben Amorim confirmed that the squad came through unscathed at Stamford Bridge — welcome news given United’s ongoing issues with squad depth and defensive injuries.
“No new injuries, which is good,” Amorim told club media. “We’ll assess a few players over the coming days, but we’re in a better place physically than we were a week ago.”
The biggest question marks remain over defenders Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, and Lisandro Martínez — all of whom are battling to be fit for the final in Bilbao.
Matthijs de Ligt is dealing with a muscle strain and is being monitored day by day. The Dutch centre-back has not featured since the 4-3 loss to Brentford and faces a race against time to prove his fitness.
Leny Yoro is the most likely to miss out, still recovering from a foot injury sustained earlier this month. Amorim has not ruled him out entirely but indicated he’s “unlikely” to feature unless there's significant improvement by Tuesday.
Lisandro Martínez, initially ruled out for the season, is making a surprise push to return. While a starting role is unlikely, he could be included on the bench if cleared by medical staff.
Right-back Diogo Dalot is expected to return after missing the Chelsea match due to calf tightness. Amorim hinted that the Portuguese defender would be fit “if all goes well in training.”
Meanwhile, midfielders Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, and attackers Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Højlund are all fully fit and expected to start, it is reported.
With Champions League qualification and a European trophy on the line, United will be hoping to have as close to a full-strength squad as possible come kickoff in Bilbao.
