Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on a Premier League forward who has been involved in 20 goals this season, and has a surprisingly low transfer fee.
The
Red Devils have endured a torrid time in front of goal throughout the current campaign, with their first-choice forwards Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee managing just one Premier League goal between them in 2025.
This alarming lack of firepower has intensified speculation that United will prioritise bolstering
Rúben Amorim’s attack in the summer transfer window.
High-profile names such as Sporting’s Viktor Gyökeres, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen (currently on loan at Galatasaray), and Juventus’ Dušan Vlahović have been persistently linked with a move to Old Trafford.
However, a fresh report from CaughtOffside suggests United could opt for a more domestic solution, with Bournemouth’s Justin Kluivert emerging as a serious target.
The 25-year-old Dutch forward has enjoyed a sensational season with the Cherries, contributing 11 goals and nine assists across all competitions, making him one of the Premier League’s standout performers.
According to the report, Kluivert has been added to United’s transfer shortlist as a versatile attacking option, capable of playing on the wing or as a No.10 behind the striker.
His electric pace, flair, and eye for goal have seen him thrive under Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth, and sources suggest he would be ‘open’ to a move to Manchester United if the opportunity arises.
What’s more, a shock price tag of just £25m has surfaced, representing a potential bargain for a player in such scintillating form—especially given United’s need for immediate impact in attack.
The Red Devils’ struggles upfront have been well-documented. Højlund, signed for £72m in 2023, has struggled to adapt to the Premier League’s physicality, while Zirkzee, a £36.5m arrival from Bologna last summer, has failed to ignite under Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.
With United languishing in 13th in the league table and out of both domestic cups, the pressure is on to rectify their attacking woes. Kluivert’s availability at a reported £25m could prove too tempting to ignore, particularly as it undercuts the hefty fees quoted for the likes of Gyökeres (£80m) and Osimhen (£62m).
Kluivert, son of Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert, has Premier League pedigree from a previous stint with Bournemouth and loan spells elsewhere in England, but his current form marks a significant step up.
CaughtOffside claims United scouts have been impressed by his directness and ability to unlock defences—qualities sorely lacking in Amorim’s current squad. Bournemouth, however, are unlikely to let their star man go without a fight, especially as they sit comfortably in mid-table and harbour European ambitions of their own.
While United’s interest in Kluivert is still in its early stages, the reported £25m valuation has raised eyebrows, offering a cost-effective alternative to the blockbuster deals typically associated with the club. Amorim is said to be keen on adding two attackers this summer, and Kluivert’s versatility could complement a more traditional No.9 signing. For now, United fans will hope this lead turns into something concrete as the club looks to climb out of its current rut.
