Lisandro Martinez says the "message" from
Michael Carrick is very clear as he is "connecting"
Manchester United with its history.
Carrick has come in on an interim basis and so far done an excellent job with six wins and a draw before the set back with defeat away to Newcastle.
The team now looks a lot more comfortable with a flat back four and they are playing a more attacking style with fits in with the club's history.
This weekend United face another crucial game against Aston Villa who are a direct rival for a Champions League place.
And Martinez told Argentine TV: "This is a big club, we expect pressure and if you are at this club you have to be prepared for everything - the criticism, positive things.
"I think now with the arrival of Carrick, who knows the club well and has very good coaching staff as well, the message is very clear - to have the DNA of the club and connect with the history which is very important."
Martinez is known giving his all on the pitch and he says all the players are "doing their best" to bring the glory days back.
"We have the same targets as the fans at the club of doing as well as possible. Obviously it has not gone well over the past few years but the players we are always trying to do our best and not shy away," he said.
"Recently we've had some really good games and we now want to have that consistency to compete in every game at the same level and represent the club how it deserves.
"Every game is a final, at United everyone wants to win. Obviously other teams fight harder against us because it is a very important game but we need to focus on ourselves, know what works well for us and what doesn't work.
"We will always try and do our best for the club so it is as good as possible. If things go well then the fans are going to be happy and if not then they are going to let you know.
