Roy Keane says that
Manchester United should be going for the very best as the next manager as he puts a name on the table.
United have named
Michael Carrick until the end of the season and it remains to be seen what the club will do in the summer.
Gary Neville has said that he doesn't think that United should appoint Carrick following the coming six months even if they achieve the target of reaching the Champions League.
He would like to see Carlo Ancelotti at Old Trafford for next season with the Italian currently in charge of the Brazilian national team.
But Keane would like to see Luis Enrique, with Neville saying he hadn't considered him because he didn't think he would leave Paris Saint Germain.
"I'm ruling out Luis Enrique purely because I don't think he'd come," said Neville, and Keane replied: "We're talking about options but you are ruling people out. United should be thinking they are trying to get the best of the best."
And Neville then suggest Thomas Tuchel, saying: "How Tuchel's playing currently with England, how Tuchel's playing with Morgan Rogers, with pace, with Madueke or Saka, they've got Gordon on the left, obviously with Kane as well.
"Obviously they've got better players in the United, I'll have to be clear, but how he's playing with England currently, I know he's got two very good central midfield players in Rice and Anderson as well, but how he's playing does feel like something that could work at United."
And Neville continued: "I think for now, most United fans will agree with the decision to get to the end of the season because of the managers who are becoming available. If they don't get one of the two or three big names at the end of the season, why wouldn't they just go for the person now that they were gonna go for?
"They must be thinking that they're gonna get them, big ones, otherwise you wouldn't appoint a bridge."
He added: "I think the three that stand out are Tuchel, Pochettino and Ancelotti to me because they've got Premier League experience."
While Keane responded: "You're mentioning those because you think they're easier to get now. If you're after the best, it's like trying to get the best player It's meant to be hard work
"There's almost like a pecking order If you've an option, if you think you've got a chance to go Man United, it should be, let's go for the very, very best. If you can't get them, obviously you go down but I certainly wouldn't be ruling Eddie Howe out of it."
And he emphasised the importance of Premier League experience. Keane said: "It's a big shock to lots of people. It's been a shock to lots of players who've come into United the last few years. It's nice to get somebody who's an experienced manager, quite calm personality."
