Manchester United crashed out of the FA Cup after they were beaten 2-1 by Brighton in a disappointing second game with Darren Fletcher at the helm.
After starting with a high tempo and pushing the visitors back, it was Brighton who took the lead after 12 minutes.
It was sloppy defending from United, who were exposed down the right and failed to mark in the centre, with Brajan Gruda applying the finishing touch.
Gruda turned provider in the second half, teeing up Danny Welbeck for his customary goal against his former club. Again, the defending was desperately poor.
United got one back late in the game, with Benjamin Sesko heading in following a Bruno Fernandes corner, but it came too late to force extra-time. Shea Lacey saw red late on for a second yellow card.

Player ratings

Senne Lammens: One horrible moment with the ball at his feet in the first half, when he was lucky he wasn't punished. Did at least shrug it off well. 5
Diogo Dalot: Early miss set the tone. Struggled defensively and got decisions wrong in the final third. Brighton got a lot of joy down United's right. 4
Leny Yoro: In no man's land for both goals and his form is becoming a major concern. Just not alert enough at times to deal with danger and not aware of what's going on around him. 5
Lisandro Martinez: Handed the corner kicks and twice went close from shots in the opposition area, but struggled with the movement of Brighton's attackers. 6
Patrick Dorgu: Moved to another new position and deserves some sympathy for that, but poor defensively. Lost sight of Gruda for both goals. 5
Manuel Ugarte: Passing continues to be a major weakness and United need more from their No.6. His days are numbered. 4
Kobbie Mainoo: Lacking football this season and looked short of rhythm at times. Booked for a bit of a lazy challenge against Welbeck but tried to make things happen. 6
Bruno Fernandes: Tried to influence the game but short of his best. Sent in the corner for the goal and at least tries to lead by example. 6
Mason Mount: Struggled with his role on the right. Made no impact from an attacking point of view and was a weakness defensively when Ferdi Kadıoğlu went forward. 5
Matheus Cunha: His good run of form seems to have ended already. Had a chance to step up recently but hasn't taken it and poor today. 5
Benjamin Sesko: Again got involved and had his share of chances. Needs to time his runs better but deserves credit for his workrate and occupying defenders. 6
Substitutes
Shea Lacey: Some direct wing play that lifted United and created a chance for Sesko. Moment of frustration for second yellow but 18-year-old deserves sympathy and was gutted. 6
Joshua Zirkzee: Didn't make much impact off the bench and another game that seemed to pass him by. 6
Harry Maguire: Nuisance in the opposition box. 6
Casemiro: Little time to make an impact. 6
