Michael Carrick has singled out what has been key to Manchester United's revival after being named Manager of the Month.
Since taking over the reigns, United won their first four games and then drew last Tuesday away to West Ham United.
Speaking after being named Manager of the Month for January, Carrick spoke about the "spirit" of the team.
"I think connecting with the players and everyone is important for us to feel that we are all in it together," he said.
"Whether that is the boys who are starting the games or coming on, the rest of the squad, whether that is the staff, certainly the supporters.
"It is what we have become used to for a long period of time at this football club and it is what makes it special so we've got to use that because it is quite unique."
Carrick also used the West Ham game as an example where he pointed to key defensive interceptions from Leny Yoro before Benjamin Sesko hit the equaliser.
"We talk about the unity and the togetherness, say the West Ham game where Ben gets a lot of headlines and rightly so because it was a massive moment and he has done great," said Carrick.
"The other side of that is the spirit is Lenny defending the two counterattacks, putting two big challenges in and seeing Amad's recovery runs and Bryan's recovery runs.
"It is quite easy to lose those games 2-0 in those circumstances but that is where the spirit counts and I've spoken to the players about that.
"Spirit doesn't just come from scoring late and the big highlights. Spirit comes from tougher situations and finding your way through, working together.
"The sacrifice they give ultimately lets us get something from the game. There is a lot that goes into it but that connection, that spirit is what we have to use for the good and the tough situations as well."
