Bruno Fernandes highlighted the role of
Joshua Zirkzee who got a key goal for Manchester United in the
2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
The Dutch forward took full advantage of injuries to Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha with a goal which will boost his confidence.
And the goal helped
United turn the game on its head after they went into the break 1-0 down against Palace.
An improved second half saw Zirkzee score and then Mason Mount got the winner.
"Obviously we need the three points after the performance and the result we had last week," said Fernandes after the match, referring to the loss against Everton.
"We needed a response very quickly. I think the first half was not great for us, but the second half was a very big response."
Fernandes provided assists for both goals, and he said that Zirkzee is likely now to have more confidence and shoot more often which he needs to do.
He continued: "And a great goal for Josh. It felt like a big moment in the game, but also for him personally.
"Well, obviously, it's important for every player to score, strikers want to score goals, want to have their chances but it's not only about that, Josh gives very different things to the team when he doesn't score.
"We're very happy obviously because we know how much of a boost of confidence we'll give for him to try more and get more chances to shoot because he's very capable of it."
The match also saw the return of Lisandro Martinez after a long injury absence.
"Obviously it's very important to have him back, such a long spell that he was out, is great to be back with the team to have this feeling of playing games again," said Fernandes.
"We know how much he struggled being out and not being able to play for us. So he's back, one more option for us to have such big quality in the team. So we're very, very happy with it."
