Bruno Fernandes could be the next major figure to depart Manchester United, with fresh reports suggesting the club captain is open to leaving — and that Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are preparing a £100 million offer.
After a gruelling season that saw United finish 15th in the Premier League and lose the Europa League final to Tottenham, Fernandes has emerged as one of several high-profile players potentially on the chopping block as part of Rúben Amorim’s summer rebuild.
According to talkSPORT, Fernandes has held initial talks with club officials, offering to leave if it helps free up funds or create space for the club's next era.
The 29-year-old, who has registered over 70 goals and 60 assists for United since arriving in 2020, remains a key figure — but may be sacrificed amid growing financial pressures.
“If the club needs me to step aside for this new project to succeed, I’m open to that conversation,” Fernandes reportedly told a close source, per talkSPORT.
Saudi giants Al Hilal are said to be leading the race, offering a long-term deal with a substantial wage package. The deal would reunite Fernandes with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, and mirrors other high-profile Premier League exits to Saudi clubs in recent months.
While Fernandes has previously reiterated his commitment to the club, his frustration with results, tactical inconsistencies, and a lack of progress has grown evident in recent interviews.
“We’re not where Manchester United should be. That hurts me more than anyone,” he said after the Europa League final.
Manager Rúben Amorim, who previously managed Fernandes at Sporting CP, is understood to value him — but has not ruled out any departures as part of a major reshaping of the squad.
The situation remains fluid, but should United receive a nine-figure bid, the decision may rest more with INEOS leadership and financial strategy than with sentiment.
If Fernandes does leave, he would be the most significant exit of the post-Ferguson era — not just in terms of quality, but in leadership and identity.
