Antony Martial is moving to Rayados de Monterrey in Mexico, where he will join Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos in €1m deal.
The French international is having a medical in Madrid and if he passes it then he will fly to Monterrey to sign a contract.
The 29-year-old left Manchester United in 2024 after his contract expired, ending a nine-year stint at Old Trafford. He then joined AEK Athens, playing his football at the OPAP Arena last season.
While he showed flashes of his quality in Greece, Martial struggled to find in a similar story to what happened during his time at Old Trafford.
Monterrey are reportedly ready to offer Martial a fresh challenge. Known as one of Liga MX’s most ambitious clubs, Monterrey have already recruited Ramos and are keen to add further international star power to their squad.
Journalist Cesar Merlo said that Pumas were also interested in signing Martial to play along with Aaron Ramsey but they were put off by Martial's high wage demands.
"Martial is now in Madrid and if he passes the medical then all the documentation will be sent to Rayadas (de Monterrey). He will then fly to Mexico to sign for Rayadas. How much will they pay? He will cost €1million," said Merlo.
Martial’s versatility across the front line, combined with his European experience, makes him an attractive option.
Martial’s career has been a rollercoaster since bursting onto the scene in 2015 at United. Signed by United from Monaco as the world’s most expensive teenager, he made an instant impact with a stunning debut goal against Liverpool.
His best season came in 2019–20, when he scored 23 goals under Ole Gunnar Solskjær. But injuries, inconsistency, and managerial upheaval meant he never fully delivered on his early promise.
A move to Greece was meant to be a reset, and while Martial enjoyed moments of success with AEK, he lost his place in the team and was left out of AEK's squad for the Conference League.
He was targeted by Pumas throughout the summer but has now been targeted by Monterrey as they look to strengthen their attack for both Liga MX and the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
For Monterrey, adding Martial to a squad already featuring Ramos is a major coup, boosting both their on-field options and global profile.
For Martial, it represents another chance to revive a career that has taken him from the Premier League spotlight to a new chapter in world football.
