Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has made it clear that the club will not exceed their budget for Alejandro Garnacho.
The Italian side are keen to secure the Manchester United winger but they say they are not ready to pay over the odds.
Napoli manager Antonio Conte has identified Garnacho as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who recently moved to Paris Saint-Germain in a £59 million deal.
Kvaratskhelia had been pivotal in Napoli’s Serie A title triumph during the 2022-23 season and continued to shine before his departure.
United have already rejected a £40 million offer from Napoli for Garnacho, who joined the club from Atletico Madrid for a nominal fee in 2020.
United have set a valuation of around £60 million for the young winger. Chelsea have also expressed strong interest in Garnacho, but United remain firm on their asking price.
Addressing the situation in an interview with DAZN, Manna emphasized Napoli's financial discipline.
"There are two names that are of interest to us; they are players we like, but they are not the only ones," Manna said.
"We are trying to evaluate a few things and looking at the opportunities, but we certainly will not pay prices that are outside the market value."
Manna also discussed the club’s approach to transfers following Kvaratskhelia’s departure:"We made this sale that, unfortunately, was necessary given what the player wanted and the dynamics of our situation.
"We will respect our parameters—not just for the transfer fee, but also for the salary.
"We are evaluating a few situations. It would not be right to give our fans false hope, but we will certainly do what is best to improve the squad."
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim reinforced the club's stance by starting Garnacho in their weekend clash against Fulham, signaling their confidence in the player’s importance to the team.
As the transfer window continues, Napoli and other suitors may need to reconsider their strategies if they hope to secure the highly regarded 19-year-old winger.
