Manchester United are weighing up a move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson as Rúben Amorim looks to strengthen his options in the middle of the park in the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed strong form at Forest since joining from Newcastle United in 2024, quickly becoming one of the most consistent young midfielders in the Premier League.
His combination of energy, technical quality, and versatility has caught the eye of United’s recruitment team, who have been tracking him closely for several months.
According to reports in The Sun, United are considering a bid in the region of £55–60 million, though Forest are expected to resist any approach mid-season.
The club views Anderson as a cornerstone of their project and sources suggest they will only consider selling if the player himself pushes for a move.
Anderson’s performances have also earned him an England senior call-up, marking another milestone in his rapid rise. A former Scotland youth international, he switched allegiance last year and impressed in his first training camp.
Former Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo previously praised the midfielder’s development saying: “Elliot’s an intelligent player — confident in possession, great at breaking lines, and improving every week. You can see why top clubs are looking at him.”
At Old Trafford, Amorim is keen to add dynamism and creativity to his midfield, with Anderson seen as an ideal fit for his high-pressing, possession-oriented system.
United scouts believe his tactical flexibility — able to play as an attacking No. 8 or deeper alongside Casemiro — could make him an immediate asset.
However, insiders close to the club have downplayed talk of an imminent move, describing it as “early-stage interest” rather than an active negotiation. Still, with Anderson’s profile rising fast and United prioritising midfield reinforcements, this is one link that may gather pace as January approaches.
